Apartment 604 with Mark - Artists you should know

Mark cofounds a tech start up, runs a clothing brand with his wife and suddenly started making art that people want on their walls. The man is NON STOP. In fact I told his wife once she’s a fucking saint. She agreed.

Mark’s first art piece I saw inspired my very own current works. He’s obsessed with the word, meaning, look of “LIFE”. And using a top secret concoction (I’ve been forever sworn to secrecy after touring an art store with him and witnessing the magic behind his art mixture) he rips apart old magazines that are iconic and collectors items themselves and currates them on wood or canvas. He paints over them as well. Basically a mix media guru. I love that style personally. All parts of your brains must be firing on all cylinders for it to look good and say something.

You know why I love people like Mark? Because he has something to say. He’s so fucking opinionated, well read, and curious. People like that burn and burn all their lives. And because he’s on an endless crusade of information seeking, testing, trying and playing (his VHS, casset and current figurines collection is to die for) he’ll never be boring. Just ask his wife, Ashley.

Here’s a photo tour of their flat in Seattle, WA. The infamous 604. Once you get past the doorman, the lobby brigade, the private elevator dumps you into an 80’s movie/adult playroom that looks more like a vacation home. That sums up these two. They work VERY hard and play hard. Because life’s too damn short.

Voila

Mark’s art is like a unicorn. If you can find it for sale, you’re probably dead. But if you want to try, find him on his IG. He hates emails. @gliderceo
